About

Who we are

Aussie Tackle Box is a practical tackle and gear guide for recreational anglers across Australia, written with a Sydney base and a clear focus on real saltwater and freshwater sessions. We cover rods, reels, lures, soft plastics, lines, terminal tackle, storage systems, kayak and small-craft fit-outs, marine electronics, gear care, species rigs, safety habits and fisheries rules in plain Australian English.

Our aim is simple: help you choose kit that suits local conditions, southern hemisphere seasons and the species you actually chase—bream, flathead, mulloway, tailor, barra, Murray cod, kingfish, mangrove jack and Spanish mackerel—without hype or filler.

What you will find here

Pages on Aussie Tackle Box break down how gear works on the water, how to match line and leader to structure, and how to pack a box that stays organised after a long run in the sun. We talk metric sizes in mm and cm, mass in g and kg, and indicative AUD price bands only when they help you compare options—not as fixed shop quotes.

How we approach advice

We write for weekend and after-work anglers as much as for people who fish hard every fortnight. Guidance is framed around conditions you meet around Sydney and along the wider coast and inland systems: wind, tide, water temperature through spring, summer, autumn and winter, and the difference between skinny estuary water and deeper kingfish or mackerel ground.

We do not invent awards, licences, guarantees or exact shelf prices. When rules matter—bag limits, size limits, closed seasons or sanctuary zones—we point you back to official state fisheries sources so you can confirm what applies on the day you launch.

Local focus, wider usefulness

Starting from Sydney keeps examples concrete: harbour and coastal run-outs, rock ledges, beach gutters and trailer-boat days within a few hours’ drive. The same principles scale to other states when you change leader strength, lure weight in grams or how you stow gear for heat and spray.

Whether you are building a first estuary kit for bream and flathead or refining a heavy soft-plastic setup for mulloway, we keep the language direct and the checklists usable on the kitchen table before you leave home.
